Getting Started
Step by step instructions to:
1: open, compile and save
2: open to play
3: open to edit
4: add additional levels
1: To open and save:
Step 1: Go to WildScaper Icon on the desktop, double click to open a WildScaper Stage. At this point you can begin to paint, write and test play, but it is advisable to save the game immediately and continue to save blocks of work as you go.
Step 2: Go to the publish icon in the Control Panel. At minimum enter the Game Title, [ie George The Cocky] limited to a total of twenty characters, the Game ID, limited to six characters [ie DDD] and the Game Level [1, in the first instance]. The Game Title and Game ID stay the same for all levels within a game. [Note: A game can be made with multiple levels, each level can have its own unique Game Level Title, story etc but must share a common Game Title and Game ID]. Once the text is entered click OK at the bottom of the Publish Panel.
Step 3: Go to the File menu and select Compile Software, select Windows or Macintosh operating system. A window will open telling you where the game you are making will be created, click on OK in this window and OK in the Compile Software Panel.
Step 4: Go to Save As in the File menu, locate the desktop and find your George The Cocky_win file folder, double click on George The Cocky_win to show WIldPlayer_win, next, double click on the WIldPlayer_win file folder to reveal three items, WildPlayer (application), ReadMe (text document) and levels (File folder). Double click on the levels (FIle folder) and enter level1 in the File name: text box and click on Save.
Step 5: To close your work use the X in the top right hand corner or Quit in the File menu.
Step 6: Your George The Cocky_win file folder will now appear on the desktop and will include your level1 game.
2: To open and play:
Step 1: Double click on the George The Cocky_win file folder on the desktop. This will open a panel showing your game name on the top and a WildPlayer_win file folder. Double click on WildPlayer_win to reveal three items, WildPlayer (application), ReadMe (text document) and levels (File folder). To play, double click on WildPlayer (application) to launch the game. Each game starts with level1.
Step 2: At this point you will be able to play level1 of your George The Cocky game.
3: To open and edit:
Step 1: Go to the WildScaper Icon on the desktop, double click to open a WildScaper Stage.
Step 2: Go to the File menu, click once on Open, select the desktop and search for George The Cocky_win and double click to open the enclosed WildPlayer_win File folder where you will find the WildPlayer (application), ReadMe (Text Document) and levels (File folder).
Step 3: Open the levels (File folder) by double clicking then double click on the level1.wld (WLD File) to open this level. At this point you can edit the game, modifying the story, artwork, runtime etc. If you have multiple levels in a game you select the level you wish to work upon.
4: To add additional levels to a game
Step 1: Go to the WildScaper Icon on the desktop, double click to open a WildScaper Stage.
Step 2: Go to the Publish icon in the Control panel, enter the Game Title [George the Cocky] Game ID [DDD] and Game Level [2].
Step 3: Go to Compile Software in the File menu, select your operating system and click on the two OK's to return to the stage.
Step 4: Go to Save As in the File menu, locate the desktop and find your George The Cocky_win file folder, double click on George The Cocky_win to show WIldPlayer_win, next, double click on the WIldPlayer_win file folder to reveal three items, WildPlayer (application), ReadMe (text document) and levels (File folder). Double click on the levels (FIle folder) and enter level2 in the File name: text box and click on Save.
Step 5: Quit the stage by clicking on the X in the top right hand corner of the screen or go to Quit in the File menu. There are now two levels to the George the Cocky game.
Step 6: Repeat steps 1-4 to add additional levels. [Note: game starts from level1.wld and will move to the next level when each level is successfully completed.] | top |
